Fapespa promotes workshop on the Connect Amazônia call this Friday, 30
The program will promote research projects aimed at addressing Amazonian challenges
The Amazon Foundation for Support of Studies and Research (Fapespa) invites researchers to participate in the Workshop of Call No. 004/2025 – Engage Amazônia Program – Connect Amazônia. The event will be held this Friday (30) at 11 am remotely via the Microsoft Teams platform. The objective is to provide detailed information, clarify doubts about the call, and encourage researcher participation.
The Connect Amazônia call, promoted by Fapespa in collaboration with the University of Birmingham (UoB), seeks to strengthen partnerships between researchers from Pará and the UK, aiming to support scientific projects in line with the sectoral policies of the state of Pará. Furthermore, Fapespa emphasizes that the program is intended for effective researchers linked to Scientific, Technological, and Innovation Institutions – ICT1, located in the state of Pará. In total, the initiative foresees an investment of R$ 350,000.00 in projects that promote advancements in scientific research, aligned with the environmental, social, and economic needs of the Amazon.
"The purpose of the workshop is to clarify doubts after a few days of the call's launch. We aim to address the doubts of the scientific community in Pará to optimize the process of researchers' adherence to this call, which is an opportunity for internationalization, not only for researchers but also for research groups and institutions in Pará. So at this moment, we want to resolve doubts, present points of attention in the call, and provide the opportunity for all researchers linked to the ICTs of the State," explains Fapespa's scientific director, Deyvison Medrado.

About the Program: The Connect Amazônia call is one of the actions developed by the Engage Amazônia 2025 Program, a multidisciplinary initiative aimed at building long-term collaborations between researchers from Birmingham and the State of Pará. The program originates from the International Cooperation Agreement for Research, Development, and Innovation (PD&I) No. 001/2025 - Government of Pará/Fapespa/University of Birmingham, which aims to develop solutions for the main challenges in the Amazon, such as climate change, deforestation, bioeconomy, nature-based solutions, and land conflicts.
The complete call is already available on the Fapespa website.
