Registrations for those who wish to participate in the COP 30 Volunteer Program were opened this Thursday (29). The announcement was made by Vice Governor Hana Ghassan and the extraordinary secretary of COP 30, Valter Correia, during a press conference held in the Atos Hall at the Government Palace. About 4,000 spots are reserved for residents of Belém and the Metropolitan Region. Registrations must be made exclusively online, at the website, until June 5.

For Hana Ghassan, who also chairs the State Committee of COP30, the COP Volunteer Program is a special opportunity to train new protagonists for the sustainable future that Pará is building.

“Our main goal is to empower our people, to empower our residents of Pará. This volunteer program adds to the Capacita COP 30 program, where we can include people in the productive market, include people in the job market. We know that the first job is often difficult because some experience is required. With this volunteer program, you will have an experience to help each one secure their spot in the job market more easily,” explained the vice governor.

The initiative is coordinated by the Secretary of Science, Technology, Higher Education, Professional and Technological Education of Pará (Sectet), in partnership with the Extraordinary Secretary for COP 30, from the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic (Secop). The project is aimed at people interested in volunteering at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30), which will be held in Belém from November 10 to 21.

Valter Correia, extraordinary secretary of COP 30, highlighted the commitment to make COP 30 the largest and best COP of all time. “The Capacita is the largest training program ever held in the state of Pará and now through the volunteer program, which will help not only that young person to gain professional experience to enter the job market, but will leave a legacy of learning, positively impacting the lives of these young people,” he pointed out.

In total, there are 3,946 spots, with 5% reserved for people with disabilities (PWD) and 20% for indigenous peoples and quilombolas. There are opportunities for people with high school, higher education, and university graduates. Interested individuals must have a command of the English language at intermediate, advanced, and full proficiency levels.

Cleide Camile

Student Cleide Camile, 20, has just completed three courses offered by the Capacita COP 30 Program, basic English, advanced English, and planning for organizing tourist events, and plans to register and volunteer at COP. "I am very happy to be able to qualify, improve my English, and learn new things. I want to work at COP, to help. The world will get to know our city and hospitality," she says.

Training - Registrants must participate in training courses to obtain the necessary certification to be a volunteer. The training includes key topics such as climate change, tourism, and intercultural communication, with 120 hours of classes in six modules. Volunteers will receive benefits aimed at ensuring well-being, safety, and recognition of their participation. During the event, they will have meals, transportation, and complete uniforms.

The volunteer team will operate in various areas, such as guiding movements, locating bus stops, itineraries, accessibility, and welcoming delegations, among other activities.

How to register - Registrations will be made exclusively through the website, until June 5.
