Codec promotes productive integration and reinforces regional vocations with Economic Development Seminar in Igarapé-Miri
The Government of Pará strengthens local productive chains and expands dialogue with the productive sector in Igarapé-Miri

With the aim of promoting the interiorization of development, stimulating strategic productive chains, and creating a favorable environment for investments, the Government of Pará, through the Pará Economic Development Company (Codec), held the Local Economic Development Seminar this Wednesday (28) in the municipality of Igarapé-Miri. The event brought together representatives from the productive sector, family farmers, public managers, financial institutions, and entrepreneurs from the Lower Tocantins region.
The initiative is part of a strategic agenda of the State that seeks to bring public policies closer to the reality of municipalities, promoting productive inclusion, sustainability, and income generation.
During the meeting, socioeconomic indicators of the region, business opportunities, tax incentive instruments, technical support for industrialization, and projects aimed at enhancing local vocations were presented — with a focus on the açaí productive chain, of which Igarapé-Miri is one of the largest national references.

“The Government of Pará is present in all integration regions of the state, listening to those who produce, invest, and live the reality of each municipality. We are working to transform local potentials into development, with responsibility and inclusion,” highlighted Codec's technical advisor, Evandro Diniz.
Active listening and local protagonism
The significant participation of the local community, especially family farmers and cooperatives, demonstrated the importance of dialogue between the public power and the actors who drive the economy of the municipality.
With over 40 years of experience in agriculture, cooperative member Leo Mauro Fonseca Costa shared the challenges and potential of the sector.
“We face many challenges, from difficulties in accessing financing to problems with infrastructure and the flow of production. Even so, we continue to believe in our potential. Açaí is a great wealth of our territory and can leave a legacy for future generations. With government support, we can further enhance what we produce and improve the lives of our families,” stated the producer.
Favorable environment for investments
In addition to social and productive advances, the seminar also reinforced the State Government's commitment to building a stable and transparent institutional environment that offers security for those who wish to invest in Pará municipalities.
Representing the mayor of Igarapé-Miri, the municipal secretary of Agriculture, Economic Development, and Fishing, Ismael Fonseca Araújo, emphasized the role of the partnership between the State and the City Hall. “This seminar is the result of a partnership that values local production and creates a favorable environment for new investments. It was an important moment, a meeting rich in ideas and possibilities. We hope that the outcome will be the construction of a more organized municipality, where those who wish to invest see real growth opportunities. It is important to emphasize the commitment of the entire municipal government to this development agenda and to creating a conducive business environment for those who want to invest in Igarapé-Miri,” stated the secretary, highlighting the importance of joint action between the State Government and the City Hall to boost the municipality's development.

For Tiago Pantoja, an entrepreneur in the açaí industrialization sector, tax incentives and technical support from the State are decisive for transforming productive potential into real economic growth. “Tax incentives are essential for us to increase our productivity and improve our profit margin. This event was very important for the municipality. Igarapé-Miri is recognized as the açaí capital, but it still needs more support from the State and Codec to consolidate its agricultural vocation and become the capital of açaí tri-transformation. We are ready to grow with planning and partnership,” highlighted the entrepreneur.

Commitment to regional development
With actions aimed at regionalizing investments, qualifying the business environment, and strengthening sustainable productive chains, the Government of Pará has been firmly acting on various fronts to create conditions for economic growth, generating opportunities where people live and work.
The Economic Development Seminar in Igarapé-Miri is part of a continuous strategy of joint construction between the State, municipalities, and civil society — with the purpose of making Pará a fairer, more integrated, and prosperous state for all.
