The Pará Sanitation Company (Cosanpa) carried out the replacement of the sewage network in the central area of Santarém, in the western state region. The action was necessary after damage was found in the old piping, which compromised the proper drainage of waste.

A total of 8 meters of network were replaced, using ochre-type piping, which is more resistant and has better flow capacity. To carry out the work, the company mobilized a large part of the network maintenance team, which needed to excavate the site.

“The service was essential to restore the efficiency of the sewage system. The new piping ensures a more adequate flow and reduces the risk of new leaks in the area,” explained the sanitary engineer and sewage coordinator of Cosanpa in Santarém, Jamison Leal.

In addition to replacing the damaged network, the team also carried out preventive actions, such as cleaning inspection wells, a measure that prevents blockages and improves network performance.

More than 200 people were directly benefited from the work, including residents and business owners, such as restaurants and gyms located in the area.

Owner of the barbecue restaurant José Nicolau approved the service

For the merchants, the completion of the service brought relief. José Nicolau, owner of a barbecue restaurant nearby, reported the impacts of the work and the benefits after its completion.

“We had about three or four days with very low movement because access was bad due to the leak. But now it has normalized, everything is great. The service was well done, everything is dry, and customers started to come back,” said the merchant.

Jamison emphasized that actions like this are part of the continuous maintenance schedule of the city's sewage system, focusing on improving the services provided to the population.
