Government launches call for volunteers to participate in COP30
There are 4,000 spots available for people living in Belém who are over 18 years old. Volunteers will undergo training courses.

Starting on May 29, registrations will be open for the volunteer training course to work during the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) in November this year. Residents of the Metropolitan Region of Belém over 18 years old can participate, as outlined in the Volunteer Call for COP30. Registrations will be made exclusively online, through the website voluntarioscop30.pa.gov.br. The initiative is coordinated by the government of Pará, through the Secretary of Science, Technology, Higher Education, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet), and by the federal government, through the Extraordinary Secretariat for COP 30, of the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic (Secop).
In total, there are four thousand spots, with 5% allocated for people with disabilities (PCD) and 20% for indigenous and quilombola peoples. There are opportunities for individuals with high school, higher education, and university students. Interested individuals must have proficiency in the English language at intermediate, advanced, or full mastery levels.
Registered individuals must participate in training courses to obtain the necessary certification to be a volunteer. The training includes key topics such as climate change, tourism, and intercultural communication, with 120 hours of classes in six modules.
According to the Vice Governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, volunteering is an essential support force for the functioning of COP30 and a living legacy for Belém.
"We are investing in training, welcoming, and transformative experiences that go far beyond the event days. Each person registered in the program will leave with new skills, connections, and an expanded view of their role in building a more sustainable world. It is this citizen mobilization that will make COP truly Amazonian, with firm roots in the reality and protagonism of our people," she emphasizes.
The Project Director of Secop Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, Flávia Castelhano, emphasizes that the Volunteer Program will stimulate the formation of young community leaders, as well as help in the development of personal and professional skills of the participants. "Socially, the program can be a means to strengthen community engagement, especially among young people, creating a more participatory, conscious, and resilient society," she said.

Volunteers will receive a series of benefits aimed at ensuring well-being, safety, and recognition of their participation. During the event, they will be entitled to meals, transportation, and complete uniforms.
