Cosanpa monitors water supply expansion works in Breves
The new water supply system will benefit over 50,000 residents

Representatives of the Pará Sanitation Company (Cosanpa) conducted a technical visit on Monday (26) to the expansion works of the water supply system in the municipality of Breves, on Marajó Island, which will benefit over 50,000 residents.
In addition to the Cosanpa team, the visit included representatives from the Breves City Hall and the companies contracted for the management and execution of the works. Among the objectives of the meeting are monitoring the construction and matters related to logistical support. They also began aligning community support through Cosanpa's Social Programs Advisory, where training courses and environmental education actions will be offered.
“This meeting was important for us to align the progress of the works together with the municipal administration, since in addition to the system works, we will have community support and the implementation of a distribution network. With this alignment, we reduce possible impacts on surrounding communities,” explains Cosanpa's Director of Expansion and Technology, Hélio Brazão.

Scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2026, the project will include 2 new reservoirs with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters, a Water Treatment Station, and 14 km of distribution network. Currently, approximately 60% of the services have already been executed.
A resident of the Jardim Tropical neighborhood, where the work is being carried out, Aguinel Salazar is already one of the beneficiaries of the construction. Working as a general services assistant, he celebrated the opportunity to work on the project. “It is a great joy to be able to work on this project that will change not only my life but the lives of many residents in the neighborhood. And the opportunity came at a good time because I was unemployed and had no way to pay for college,” says Aguinel.

Cosanpa's President, José Fernando de Mendonça Gomes Júnior, emphasized the visit as a strategy for executing the planned stages of the project until completion. “We know how much this project will improve the quality of life for the people of Breves. Therefore, with the support of the State Government, we are reinforcing our teams so that all stages are completed according to the delivery schedule. This alignment with municipal management will also be essential at this time,” says José Fernando.
In the coming weeks, the work will focus on isolating the construction area, reinforcing technical teams for testing equipment and systems already installed, as well as raising awareness in the surrounding community.
