The governor of the State, Helder Barbalho, highlighted the progress in preparations for COP30, this Monday (26), during the Forum 'See at COP30', held by the magazine from the Abril publishing house in São Paulo (SP). He noted that there are more than 30 works underway in Belém, generating over 5,000 jobs and benefiting 900,000 people. The City Park, the venue for the Climate Conference in November, is already 84% completed, demonstrating that the city will be ready to host the global event in November this year.

In São Paulo, this Monday, the forum brought together entrepreneurs, journalists, and other representatives from the private sector, and the governor made a comprehensive presentation on the progress of the works. He highlighted projects such as the City Park, which will host the Green Zone and the Blue Zone at COP, in addition to Porto Futuro II, the Bioeconomy and Innovation Park of the Amazon, the construction of new hotels, the COP30 Village, among other structural works that prepare the capital of Pará.

'Services are happening in Belém, from the center to the periphery of the city,' highlights the governor

“We have a set of more than 30 works being carried out in our capital, and it is important that we can highlight the concern and care so that these works can enhance the quality of life in the city as a whole, thus ensuring that the interventions benefit both the periphery and the center,” emphasized Helder Barbalho.

“These public facilities certainly prepare Belém so that the city has important solutions for urban challenges, such as mobility, new public transport facilities, macro-drainage works for the peripheral areas of the city, in addition to important urban interventions that structure and equip Belém in cultural, leisure, tourism, and events areas, so that we can have ecological tourism as an important economic asset for the city. A new economy that opens up within the reconciliation of the forest with urban centers so that, with this, Belém can consolidate itself as the capital of the Amazon,” explained the governor.

The head of the state executive also participated in an interview with the editor of Veja, Ricardo Ferraz. On this occasion, he highlighted, among other topics, the first concession for reforestation in Brazil, made by the government of Pará, in addition to the advances in the implementation of the State's REDD+ Jurisdictional System.

“We will advocate for the appreciation of the forest, so that we can ensure that a living forest can be worth more than a dead forest and stimulate the bioeconomy and new land use based on low-emission practices, reconciling food production with job generation and environmental responsibility,” highlighted Helder Barbalho.

Belém as the main player in Amazon tourism

“Historically, Pará has had mining and agriculture as its strong economic vocations, but we are working to implement event tourism, environmental tourism, and the agenda of ecological tourism, from the leadership of being the capital of the climate agenda. We want to be the main player in tourism in the Amazon region,” emphasized the governor.
