Regional Hospital of Paragominas reinforces humanized actions and professional qualification in the month dedicated to Nursing

In the month dedicated to Nursing, the Public Regional Hospital of the East (HRPL), in Paragominas, reinforces the relevance of these professionals in promoting health and specialized care, highlighting their role in the Indigenous Peoples Health Care Program (Pnaspi). In the Rio Capim region, the strategic and humanized work of the nursing team is essential to ensure the quality of care for indigenous communities.

The Assistant Director of HRPL, nurse Karla Negrão, explains that Pnaspi is a subsystem of the Unified Health System (SUS) aimed at comprehensive and differentiated care for indigenous peoples. “It includes primary care, with actions for health promotion, protection, and recovery, as well as specialized care in hospitals and other medium and high complexity services,” she details.

According to Karla, since the second half of 2024, the hospital has been implementing specific actions aimed at indigenous health, with the goal of providing qualified, respectful, and humanized care.

Among the main initiatives are:

- Initial and periodic training for employees and service providers, focusing on intercultural communication and understanding the reality of indigenous peoples in the health context;
- Guarantee of full access to specialized care for indigenous peoples;
- Differentiated care, considering the sociocultural diversity and the epidemiological and logistical particularities of these populations;
- Valuing indigenous traditional knowledge and practices, promoting community participation in the planning and implementation of health actions;
- Inclusion of ethnic groups in the HRPL electronic medical record system, allowing for proper registration and monitoring of the care provided;
- Integration of health actions with special programs and epidemiological and sanitary surveillance services.

In line with the Regional Nursing Council of Pará (COREN-PA), HRPL promoted Nursing Week with the theme “Challenges of Nursing: The Care Journey in the Amazon.” The program marked a significant moment for the unit, bringing together nurses and nursing technicians committed to promoting the health and well-being of indigenous, riverside, and urban populations in the region.

The event took place on the 20th and 21st of this month, in the hospital's central reception, with an agenda that included integration activities, health education actions, tributes, and testimonials. The proposal was to strengthen the recognition and appreciation of nursing work in the Amazon context.

Karla Negrão emphasizes that the event represents not only an opportunity for professional development but also a moment of reflection on the challenges and importance of nursing in the Amazonian reality. “The challenges for nursing in caring for the Amazon population are complex and multifaceted, requiring the adoption of strategies that consider issues such as access, logistics, infrastructure, cultural diversity, and limited resources. The vast territorial extension, difficult logistics, and the presence of indigenous communities with their own health practices represent significant barriers,” she stated.

Community approval – Aldenora Carneiro, 74, a member of the Cajueiro indigenous community, praised the care received at the unit. “The reception is excellent. We can only thank,” she highlighted.
