The Dr. Roberto Macedo Emergency Room (PSRM), located on Augusto Montenegro Avenue in Belém, hosted the monthly meeting of the Technical Chamber of Humanization of the Urgency and Emergency Network (CTH-RUE) this Thursday (22). The event was attended by technicians from the State Coordination of Humanization (CEH) and representatives from the Humanization Committees of the Urgency and Emergency Network of the Metropolitan Region, to promote, discuss, and implement humanization strategies in care for users of the Unified Health System (SUS).
At the opening of the event, the general director of PSRM, Carlos Vinícius Ribeiro, presented a balance of the first year of operation of the unit, inaugurated in May 2024. Since then, the hospital has performed 527,076 services, including admissions, surgeries, triages, emergency care, and Diagnostic and Therapeutic Support services. Only in 2025, so far, 43,088 patients have been treated in adult and pediatric emergency services.

In addition to the hospital management, the Hospital Humanization and User Service/Ombudsman sectors presented the main services and ongoing projects, aligned with the guidelines of the National Humanization Policy (PNH) and the participatory management of SUS.
For the state coordinator of Humanization of the State Health Department (Sespa), Guilherme Martins, the central theme of the meeting was the “Guarantee of Users' Rights,” focusing on strategies that promote person-centered care and strengthen citizen protagonism in SUS.
"Among the main forms of contribution, I highlight the promotion of qualified listening, strengthening social participation, fostering co-responsibility in care, improving services, and ongoing health education. These are fundamental actions to make the state network more welcoming, equitable, and committed to users," emphasized the psychologist.

During the technical meeting, representatives of humanization from hospitals in the capital, such as the Pará Women's Hospital, Ophir Loyola Hospital, Hospital de Clínicas, Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará, and Metropolitan Hospital of Urgency and Emergency, along with the Municipal Health Department of Belém (Sesma), discussed ways to improve work processes based on the principles of PNH: transversality, protagonism of subjects, and co-responsibility. The goal is to promote more ethical, empathetic, and effective health care.

"It was extremely important to host this event, where we could present the profile of our unit, which, according to the Ministry of Health, is the largest Emergency Room in the North of the country. We showed our production, operational dynamics, and how we are transforming emergency care in Belém and the metropolitan region. Even with a large volume of services, we seek to prioritize quality and welcoming, respecting patients' rights, with the support of the Ombudsman, so that the process is as humanized as possible," emphasized Carlos Vinícius Ribeiro.
