State strengthens culture, sports, and leisure with the delivery of the New Covered Sports Court in Igarapé-Miri

The public facility guarantees the population of the city, as well as the surrounding communities, an appropriate space to encourage sports practice, also providing another environment for cultural expressions.

The Government of Pará delivered, on the morning of this Friday (23), the New Covered Sports Court of the municipality of Igarapé-Miri, located in the Tocantins Integration Region. The space, located in the Boa Esperança neighborhood, guarantees residents, as well as surrounding communities, an appropriate space to encourage sports practice, also providing another environment for cultural and leisure activities.

The delivery was made by the state’s vice-governor, Hana Ghassan, who was on an agenda in the locality. During the event, Hana highlighted the importance of the deliveries that were made in the municipality, which celebrates its 129th anniversary this Friday.

"Today is a day of celebration here in Igarapé-Miri, with deliveries for the population. We delivered the sports court, I also participated in the delivery, with the municipality, of the health unit, we delivered a water treatment system for the Ribeirinhas community and 20 water supply systems," she stated.

The New Covered Sports Court of Igarapé-Miri was built in a total area of 1,800 square meters (m²), with 525 square meters (m²) of built area. The location received a smooth cemented court floor, protective fencing for the public, a metal roof, and lighting with floodlights.

The new public facility integrates with the public policies of social inclusion of the Government of Pará, providing another space for cultural expression for the residents of Igarapé-Miri, the largest producer and exporter of açaí in the world.


The Secretary of State for Public Works, Ruy Cabral, highlighted the importance of the new space for the community. "This is another public space for the population of Igarapé-Miri and the region. The New Covered Sports Court of the municipality will ensure sports and leisure activities for all ages, an important meeting point for the community, promoting health, well-being, and integration," he emphasized.

The construction of the New Covered Sports Court of Igarapé-Miri was carried out through the State Secretary of Public Works (Seop), in partnership with the Municipal City Hall. The investment from the state treasury in the public facility was R$ 981,630.67.

Health - The vice-governor also participated in the delivery of the Family Health Strategy (ESF) Unit, located in the Boa Esperança neighborhood, an agenda of the municipal city hall. The structure will benefit residents of two neighborhoods in the region, with the capacity to perform up to 200 consultations per month. The public facility will offer prevention services, health promotion, and medical follow-up for registered families.

Drinking Water - In addition, the vice-governor accompanied the delivery of 20 Drinking Water Treatment Systems to serve riverside communities in the municipality. The amendment is from Federal Deputy Priante with resources from the municipality.

Citizenship - Still during the agenda in the municipality, Hana Ghassan concluded her schedule of activities in the locality with a visit to the works of the Usina da Paz of Igarapé-Miri.
