Instrument of regional development promoted by the Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec), the "Incentivized Economic Areas" stand out as an important public policy to strengthen the economy of municipalities, attract investments, and generate job and income opportunities for the population of Pará.

In practice, the incentivized areas are previously delimited zones with planned infrastructure and incentives aimed at attracting companies and productive enterprises, respecting the social, environmental, and economic characteristics of each region.

According to Codec, the implementation of these special zones aims to decentralize growth, stimulate local productive chains, and ensure that the benefits of economic development reach the population in a concrete way.

Interiorization of economic development - According to Pádua Rodrigues, director of Strategy and Institutional Relations at Codec, "The Incentivized Economic Areas are fundamental to foster and interiorize development. They provide a structured base for companies to settle with more legal security, infrastructure, easy access to services, and the possibility of connection with already existing productive chains."

Codec emphasizes that the creation of an Incentivized Economic Area involves a series of technical studies of economic viability, including analysis of regional economic vocations. There is also a survey of logistical, environmental, and land demands, as well as active listening with the local community. The goal is to ensure that the area functions as a vector for developing the municipality's potential in the sectors of industry, services, logistics, agribusiness, bioeconomy, or other strategic segments.

With the expansion of transport infrastructure promoted by the State in recent years, facilitating the exploration of the main productive chains, Pará has begun to demand the implementation of three new state incentivized economic areas, aimed at enabling the attraction of businesses and enterprises for these sectors, such as the Industrial Districts of Castanhal, Breves, and Santarém, in addition to the Export Processing Zone of Barcarena. Furthermore, Codec technically supports the municipal hubs of Parauapebas, Canaã dos Carajás, and Paragominas, managed by their respective municipal governments.

Industrial Condominium - Among the state projects under development is the Industrial Condominium of Castanhal, which emerges as a milestone for development in northeastern Pará. Designed in the industrial condominium model, the first in Northern Brazil, the project is the result of a partnership between Codec and the municipality of Castanhal.

The proposal is to transform the municipality into a strategic industrial hub, attracting investments, generating jobs, and promoting social inclusion. The condominium also foresees actions aimed at qualifying the local workforce, in partnerships with institutions of the Fiepa System, strengthening the productive base and infrastructure of the municipality.

"The Condominium already has its executive project completed and is currently in the environmental licensing phase. After this stage, construction will begin," confirms Mayara Figueira, manager of New Business Development at Codec.

Innovative state project - Codec states that the Industrial Condominium is an innovative state project. A new business model for local and foreign investors, generating jobs and income in the region. The Industrial Condominium of Castanhal offers an area of 143 hectares and 113 lots, in the first phase, at subsidized prices available for the establishment of companies from various segments.

Companies interested in learning about and being part of the project can already access the area acquisition interest form through Codec's website at www.codec.pa.gov.br or by email at [email protected]

Codec also emphasizes that the incentivized economic areas are designed on land with land regularization, with complete infrastructure to meet business demands. These are areas with energy, lighting, paved roads, water and sewage treatment stations, convenience buildings, and support services. In many cases, investments trigger urban and social improvements that directly benefit the local population, especially young people and workers seeking training and opportunities.

With planning and dialogue with municipalities, focusing on sustainability, the Incentivized Economic Areas reaffirm Codec's role as a facilitator of the economic and social development of Pará. The initiative strengthens the commitment to an inclusive economy prepared for the challenges of the present and the future.
