Eight socioeducational students and eight staff members from the Pará Foundation for Socioeducational Assistance (Fasepa) participated in the certification ceremony for the Residential Refrigeration and Air Conditioning course, promoted by the National Service for Industrial Training (Senai), in partnership with Fasepa, on the afternoon of this Monday (19). The event took place at the Senai Getúlio Vargas auditorium in Belém.

The course, with a workload of 160 hours, was held from March 10 to May 9, 2025, at the Apoena Sports and Cultural Complex of Fasepa. Under the guidance of instructor Paulo Brito, the training targeted adolescents undergoing socio-educational measures (detention and semi-freedom), as well as Fasepa staff.

Paulo Brito, mechanical engineer and Senai instructor

Paulo Brito, a mechanical engineer and Senai instructor, shared his experience in the course and highlighted the positive impact on the participants' lives. “At first, it was a big challenge. The young people were closed off, suspicious, thinking it would be a difficult course with a rigid approach. But as they realized I was there to help, to teach something that could really make a difference in their lives, everything changed. They opened up, dedicated themselves, and learned with enthusiasm. It was a very rewarding experience. Seeing their happiness at this conclusion fills me with pride and gratitude,” the instructor emphasized.

The socioeducational students and staff had classes in theory and practice, allowing them to understand each step of the course. For a 17-year-old socioeducational student, the course was very good, and the experience was rewarding as it allows for a change in life.

"My mother is very proud of me, this course is a great opportunity because when I finish the measure, I can have my profession out there, help my family, I won’t have to go back to the wrong life I was living, I am very grateful to Fasepa for the opportunity," he said emotionally.

The initiative had the institutional support of the Public Ministry of the State of Pará (MPPA) and the Court of Justice of the State of Pará (TJPA), and the partnership of Senai, consolidating itself as a joint effort to promote resocialization through professional education and the generation of opportunities in the labor market.

Welson Correia, Director of Senai Getúlio Vargas

For the director of Senai Getúlio Vargas, Welson Correia, this partnership is transformative and only complements the socioeducational work developed by Fasepa. "This partnership complements the socioeducational work that Fasepa already develops with these young people, in this case, professional education. Education is transformative, so we hope that this course can provide these young people with a profession, so they can perform this work in a qualified and dignified manner, so that from this they can transform their lives," he emphasized.

Representatives from various institutions that support the socioeducational policy in the State were present at the ceremony, including public defender Dr. Márcio Neiva; prosecutor Dr. Diana Cristina Ferreira Cunha from the 3rd Childhood and Youth Court; childhood and youth prosecutor, Dr. Antonio Lopes Maurício; regional director of Senai, Dário Lemos; director of Senai Getúlio Vargas, Welson Ferreira Corrêa; president of Fasepa, Carlos Alberto de Andrade Rodrigues Júnior; director of Socioeducational Assistance at Fasepa, Andrei Miranda da Silva; administrative and financial director of the foundation, Darley Barros; and the coordinator of Socioeducational Assistance, Kátia Pórfiro, in addition to family members of the socioeducational students.

Andrei Miranda, director of Socioeducational Assistance at Fasepa

For the director of socioeducational assistance at Fasepa, Andrei Miranda, the certification represents a decisive step in the trajectory of the adolescents served.

“The certification represents an important process of social reintegration for the adolescents served by Fasepa, offering concrete perspectives for professional qualification, with autonomy and social inclusion, being a source of sustenance upon leaving the foundation. We emphasize that actions like this reaffirm the State's commitment to the transformation and re-signification of lives through education and professional qualification, guaranteeing rights and consolidating adolescents as citizens, which is what Fasepa aims for,” he stated.

The qualification is part of Fasepa's strategies to guarantee the right to professionalization and promote the social and labor insertion of young people who go through the socioeducational system, reaffirming the role of education as a central axis in building new opportunities.
