Actions from the Integrated River Base have already totaled over 40 kilograms of narcotics removed from circulation in the first half of May

An integrated inspection action, carried out this Friday (15), resulted in the seizure of 10.760 kilograms of skunk-type marijuana by agents from the River Group of the Public Security and Social Defense Secretariat (Segup), who operate at the Integrated River Base Candiru. The operation was supported by civil and military police and the Fire Department. The drug was found during an approach to a vessel traveling from Manaus to Belém.
“We continue to daily confirm the effectiveness of the security strategy for the rivers of the State, based on the enhancement of the River Bases. Today, another seizure was made during the inspection on the route of the Amazon River, in front of the municipality of Óbidos. Only in this first half of May, the actions of the Base have already resulted in the seizure of over 40 kilograms of narcotics, in addition to other illicit seizures. We reinforce that we will continue with police presence and continuous patrolling in the region, in order to ensure the safety of the population and dismantle crime,” highlighted the head of Segup, Ualame Machado.
Seizure – The drug was located during the approach to the tugboat "Rei Davi", which was navigating the Amazon River with two barges, "Luana I" and "Lady Linda". After leaving Manaus bound for Belém, the vessel was intercepted by the Candiru Base team, which began inspecting the transported vehicles. With the help of the Military Police's sniffer dog, Izú, five packages of a substance similar to skunk-type marijuana were found, totaling 10.760 kilograms.

In light of the flagrant, the vessel was taken to the Jeretepáua Port in Óbidos, where the Integrated River Base Candiru is located, for further inspections to be conducted.
After the procedure, the vessel remains at the Jeretepaua Port where it undergoes new inspections on other vehicles being transported. The seized material was presented to the Civil Police team operating at the Base for the necessary legal proceedings. Investigations continue to identify those responsible for sending the drug.
