Pará Women's Hospital registers 144% increase in exams for women's health
The numbers of services reinforce the institution's commitment to excellence and humanized access to health services

Caring for women's health with warmth, technique, and state-of-the-art structure is the commitment that guides the work of the Pará Women's Hospital (HMPA), which has been in operation for just over 60 days. During the month of April, 16,200 exams were performed, surpassing the numbers recorded in March, when 6,600 exams were conducted, representing an increase of approximately 144% when comparing the two months.
The hospital offers various types of laboratory analyses, including the collection of preventive exams, well-known as Pap smears, and diagnostic imaging exams with state-of-the-art equipment conducted by qualified professionals, ensuring precision and comfort for patients undergoing X-rays, ultrasounds, mammograms, CT scans, MRIs, echocardiograms, among others.

Another highlight is the more than 3,600 consultations conducted since the opening of the outpatient service of the hospital unit, involving assessments and therapies, through personalized assistance and guidance with specialists in gynecology, mastology, cardiology, vascular, physiatry, general surgery, plastic surgery, urology, proctology, dermatology, pulmonology, neurology, endocrinology, and gastroenterology, in addition to nutritionists, physiotherapists, and psychologists.
The hospital's general director, intensivist physician Nelma Machado, emphasizes that the hospital's differential lies in the human approach to each patient. "Our mission is to offer not only a service of technical excellence but also care that welcomes, listens, and respects each woman, valuing their dignity in care. The modern structure of the hospital enhances this purpose, combining the essential technical care with the warmth that makes all the difference," emphasizes the manager.

Donna Summer de Souza, 41, was hospitalized to undergo a procedure for the removal of a fibroid. "I started with a lot of bleeding, a lot of hemorrhaging, which is when I sought a doctor, underwent exams at another health unit, and on the day I received the result that it was a fibroid, I also heard the news that there was no solution with medication, I would have to undergo surgery to remove my uterus. It was then that upon coming to the hospital, after being referred for surgery, I was re-evaluated by the medical team here at the hospital, and due to my age and the fact that I do not have children yet, they opted to preserve my uterus and only remove the fibroid," reports the patient.
Donna added that the experience of being treated at the hospital was surprising. "I didn't even know this hospital existed, this SUS hotel, as I call it," joked the patient, who continued, "I received excellent care from everyone since the first day I came here with the doctor and from the day I was admitted, from the reception to the bed. We find humanization in the care of the doctors, nurses, technicians, psychologists; we have everything in this hospital. My mother and I feel safe, very grateful to God for this. I hope this hospital lasts for many, many years because it will still bring more benefits to many other women, like me, who are waiting for surgery and other services. I leave here very happy," she evaluates.

In total, the hospital has also recorded 695 surgeries, from minimally invasive procedures to medium and high complexity surgeries, accompanied by a multidisciplinary team formed by qualified professionals in comprehensive care in therapy and hospitalization units, promoting a more peaceful and safe recovery, with comfortable facilities and planned environments.
The expectation is to include new services in the coming months and expand the reach of the female audience to preventive, educational, and assistance actions, essential for promoting the health and well-being of patients.
