Seel opens the XIV Edition of Joapa in Oeiras do Pará

On the night of this Thursday (15), the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sport and Leisure (Seel), began the first regional phase of the XIV Edition of the Open Games of Pará (Joapa), with a beautiful opening ceremony for the Marajó I region, based in the municipality of Oeiras do Pará. About 520 athletes participated in the opening program, which included presentations from the municipalities of Bagre, Breves, Curralinho, Melgaço, Oeiras do Pará, Ponta de Pedras, and São Sebastião da Boa Vista, as well as regional dances from the Araticu group and the Boto dance. The event was held at the Admir Rodrigues Gymnasium.
The Secretary of Seel, Cássio Andrade, emphasized the launch of the Open Games of Pará in the municipality. “It is a moment of great joy to see this gym packed and beautiful with the participation of seven municipalities from the Marajó archipelago. Joapa is the largest competition in amateur sports, held by the State Government through Seel. Sports are a priority to bring citizenship, leisure, integration, promotion, and unity through sports competitions. Long live Joapa, long live all of you athletes,” said Secretary Cássio Andrade.

The sports modalities in competition are: basketball, futsal, beach soccer, volleyball, handball, and table tennis. Joapa is the largest amateur sports competition in the state, encompassing all 144 municipalities in Pará across 10 regional stages, focusing on strengthening sports and promoting social inclusion through sports practice.
The head of the delegation from the municipality of Curralinho, Alexandre Torres, expresses his gratitude to the State Government. “We from the municipality are eternally grateful to the Government and Seel for bringing this opportunity for our young people to participate in another stage of Joapa. We have more than 80 athletes participating in this great event, with the modalities of beach soccer, volleyball, and futsal. I can only thank,” he said.

The volleyball athlete from the municipality of Breves, Hewelly Rodrigues, 19 years old, talks about her first experience at Joapa. “This is a unique opportunity; I am participating for the first time in Joapa, in Oeiras, and I can only thank the support of the Government that has been making sports in Marajó grow more and more,” said the young woman.
