State advances in the construction of the new Regional Hospital of Tucuruí
Built from scratch, the new building will have 215 beds and will strengthen healthcare in southeastern Pará
The construction of the new Regional Hospital of Tucuruí has progressed in the southeastern region of Pará. The hospital unit is strategic in decentralizing high-complexity care and will enhance healthcare in the Tucuruí Lake region, which includes Tucuruí and the municipalities of Breu Branco, Goianésia do Pará, Jacundá, Novo Repartimento, Tailândia, and Nova Ipixuna. The new building has an area of 28,000 square meters and is already over 30% completed.
Accompanying her mother, who is being treated at the old structure of the Regional Hospital of Tucuruí, Janine Rosa believes that the care will be even better with the new building. “My mother is undergoing treatment for cervical cancer and has always received good care at the unit. I hope the new hospital will be even better, to ease the flow and ensure more care for the demand from the municipalities. It will be even better to have the new structure,” she says.
The new unit will offer medium and high-complexity care, with 24-hour emergency services in Obstetrics, including High-Risk, Moderate, and Routine Pregnancy, an Emergency Care Center for Stroke Patients, Pediatrics, and Trauma, as well as referenced emergency services in Cardiology, Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Surgical Clinics. It will also provide hospital admissions and outpatient care in various specialties, such as Gynecology and Obstetrics, Urology, Pediatrics, Trauma, Oncology, in addition to complementary services for Neurology and Orthopedics.
“It is a strategic investment by the Government in southeastern Pará, ensuring more dignity, resolution, and quality in caring for life. A modern unit, structured to offer hospital services in various specialties, strengthening the state health network. It is the government's commitment and our management's commitment to the interiorization of health and to every citizen's right to dignified care close to home,” emphasizes the State Secretary of Public Health (Sespa), Ivete Gadelha Vaz.
The companion Simone Nicoletti, who cares for her mother, an oncology patient at the Regional Hospital of Tucuruí, praises the qualified care of the hospital and celebrates the future improvements. “The treatment here is already wonderful, everyone is very professional and does not make distinctions between patients. The new hospital in Tucuruí, which is being built, will be an even greater improvement for the city because the demand is very high. There will be better services, better care, and the ability to serve many more people than is currently possible,” she celebrates.
The new building will have nine floors, distributed among 215 beds, including 150 inpatient beds, 30 adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, 10 pediatric ICU beds, 10 neonatal ICU beds, 10 neonatal ICU beds for Kangaroo care, as well as six operating rooms and two delivery rooms. About 70 direct jobs have already been created with the construction. The expectation is to hire another 30 professionals next week.
“The new Regional Hospital of Tucuruí will benefit this important municipality, but it will also extend its reach to all the others that make up the Tucuruí Lake region. This is another modern public facility being built on an area of 41,896 m² and will ensure ease and accessibility for those seeking health services,” assures Ruy Cabral, Secretary of Public Works (Seop).
