More than 550 food baskets were delivered to charitable institutions that assist people in situations of social vulnerability in Belém. The delivery is the result of a partnership between the Government of Pará, through the ParáPaz Foundation, and HM7 Entertainment, which turned a volleyball match into an act of solidarity.

The Vice Governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, participated in the delivery of the food and highlighted the importance of the government's proximity to the population, emphasizing that physical presence and direct contact with people allow for a better understanding of their needs.

"Caring for people in our daily lives is very important because, often, people do not have anything to eat that day. This is the reality, and we cannot live far from this reality; we must be connected to the problems of everyday life. The energy gives us strength for our work; in addition to the donation, we are here to thank and recognize the serious work of these institutions. You help us multiply the actions of the State. The partnership we are building to be close to the population makes all the difference. And we will continue to work even more for those who need it most,” said the Vice Governor.

The baskets were collected through the solidarity ticket adopted at the match of the Brazilian Men's Volleyball Superliga, between Vôlei Renata (SP) and Sada Cruzeiro (MG) in Belém. Fans contributed 1 kg of non-perishable food to watch the game. However, the state government invested R$ 40,000 in purchasing essential items that were missing, making the baskets more robust and allowing for the assembly of 559 food baskets, as explained by Alberto Teixeira, president of the ParáPaz Foundation.

“May this partnership between the public and private sectors serve as an example. The food was destined for the ParáPaz Foundation, which operates daily in its units assisting people in vulnerable situations, and we chose institutions that operate in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. Most of the donations were beans and rice, and it was necessary to complement with milk, coffee, sugar, and cookies,” said Alberto Teixeira.

Beneficiary institutions - Among the benefited entities are Abrigo João de Deus; Cordeirinhos de Deus; Comunidade Belém de Jesus; Desbravadores (Adventist Church) and Instituto Lilian Gusmão, in addition to five units of the ParáPaz Foundation in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.

Rosilene Lima and her son, beneficiaries of the food basket donation

For housewife Rosilene Lima, 39, the received food represents relief. She and her son have health problems and need to spend part of the family's income on medications. “It came at a good time, and I feel relieved because food will not be lacking for at least three weeks, and I will only need to buy protein, which already saves a lot. With this food, I know I will be able to manage a little better,” she said.

Social worker Adriana Ramos, from Abrigo João de Deus, also highlighted the contribution of the donation to the shelter's routine. “We welcome people who are homeless, elderly who have suffered abuse; they all live in the shelter, so our food supply is daily, which is why we need food donations, essential for carrying out our work.”
