Winner of 20 awards, 'Manas' premieres at Cine Líbero Luxardo this Thursday (15)

The highly anticipated film “Manas,” directed by Mariana Brennand, arrives at the most charming cinema in Belém this Thursday (15) at 8 PM. In addition to the premiere, the programming also includes the crowd-pleaser 'the double feature': “Man with H” and “Sinners.”
After its premiere at the 81st Venice Film Festival, where it won the “Best Direction” Award, the film “Manas” has already won 20 awards at festivals around the world. The idea for the feature emerged after a conversation between the director and the Pará singer Fafá de Belém and involved rigorous research that lasted about 10 years to be produced.
The work sensitively portrays the reality of sexual abuse experienced by women in the Marajó region of Pará. The story follows Marcielle (Jamilli Correa), a young girl of only 13 years old, immersed in an environment filled with violence and abuse alongside her father, Marcílio (Rômulo Braga), her mother, Danielle (Fátima Macedo), and three siblings. The film also features Dira Paes, who plays the delegate Aretha.
The feature develops as Marcielle, now more experienced with life, begins to have a different perception of her idealizations. She understands that they are trapped in an environment marked by pain and suffering. Concerned about her younger sister and aware that the future does not hold many options for her, she decides to confront the violent machinery that governs her family and the women in her community.
'Man with H' and 'Sinners'
A crowd-pleaser in its first week of screening, the films “Man with H” and “Sinners” return to the Líbero programming for another round of sessions in the most charming cinema in Belém.
The biopic “Man with H,” directed by Esmir Filho, celebrates the life and art of Ney Matogrosso. The film follows Ney Matogrosso's origins in Bela Vista, Mato Grosso do Sul, and the constant family clashes due to his father's prejudices. Upon leaving home and moving to São Paulo, Ney begins his artistic career. With a unique voice and an unforgettable creative and performative flair, “Man with H” tells the life story of an artistic icon, demonstrating his revolutionary and captivating identity, his liberating impulse, and his unmistakable stage presence.
The feature “Sinners,” directed by Ryan Coogler, delves into a psychological drama with touches of suspense and horror. The film stars Michael B. Jordan in two roles, portraying twin brothers who return to their hometown to restart their lives but end up confronted by a supernatural force. The film received mostly positive reviews, with praise for the performances, Coogler's direction, and the soundtrack composed by Ludwig Göransson.
