Government of Pará and City Hall of Belém carry out a new phase of the 'Pothole Operation' on Augusto Montenegro Highway
The joint action aims to recover the pavement of one of the main roads in the capital, ensuring more road safety and mobility for those traveling between neighborhoods and districts such as Icoaraci and Outeiro

The Government of Pará, in partnership with the City Hall of Belém, is carrying out another phase of the "Pothole Operation" this Monday (12), with concentrated action on Augusto Montenegro Highway, one of the main access roads of the capital. The services will take place at night, from 10 PM to 6 AM, aiming to improve urban infrastructure and reduce traffic impacts during the day.
The initiative is led by the State Department of Public Works (Seop), in conjunction with the Department of Urban Maintenance and Conservation (Sezel), and covers both directions of the highway. The work starts at Rua Oito de Maio, in Icoaraci, continuing to the Entroncamento, in the Castanheira neighborhood, and returning along the same route.
“This is another step in this important partnership between the City Hall and the State to provide more mobility to the population of Belém. We will improve the pavement, making the necessary repairs. The rain has severely affected our roads, destabilizing the pavement structure. We are intervening at night and in the early morning to avoid compromising traffic flow,” explained Seop head, Ruy Cabral.
To ensure agility and efficient coverage, two teams will work simultaneously with the support of dump trucks and the application of about two tons of asphalt along the stretch.
Infrastructure and mobility
Launched in January, the "Pothole Operation" is the result of a task force between the State Government and the City Hall of Belém to ensure the maintenance and recovery of the urban roads of the capital of Pará. The initiative has already benefited several neighborhoods, such as Coqueiro, Pedreira, Terra Firme, Umarizal, Cidade Velha, Campina, Marco, and Sacramenta, as well as the districts of Icoaraci and Outeiro.

The action reinforces the commitment of both state and municipal administrations to improve urban mobility and the quality of life of the people of Belém.
