The paving works of the PA-220 highway, known as Transmaú, have entered the final phase, with the completion of 11 kilometers of asphalt paving. The highway is strategic for northeastern Pará, as it connects the urban area of the municipality of Curuçá to Vila Maú, in the municipality of Marapanim, facilitating access to other municipalities in the region, such as Magalhães Barata, Igarapé-Açu, and the urban center of Marapanim.

In addition to the paving, the services include the implementation of drainage systems; construction of sidewalks in urban areas, curbs, sub-base, and base; earthworks and horizontal and vertical signaling. The goal is to ensure greater infrastructure, safety, and mobility for the local population.

Milestone in the region - The State Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, Adler Silveira, highlighted the relevance of the work for regional development. “The paving of PA-220 represents a milestone in the infrastructure of northeastern Pará. With this highway, we consolidate a logistics corridor that brings communities closer, strengthens regional integration, and provides favorable conditions for economic development. This is another example of the commitment of the Government of Pará to works that transform lives and generate progress,” says the head of Seinfra.

The complete delivery of PA-220 is eagerly awaited by residents, who have faced access difficulties for decades, especially during the period of heavy rains, the Amazonian winter, when the road became almost impassable.

The new infrastructure has the potential to boost the local economy, facilitating the flow of agricultural production, access to public services, and encouraging tourism in the region.

'A paradise' - Resident José Ribamar, who has lived for 32 years in the Muruteua community, expresses gratitude for the improvement. “Before, it was bad. Now, it’s a paradise. This new road will be our salvation. I am very thankful to the state government. What they are doing here has never been done before,” assures José.

For merchant Silmara Santos, a resident of the region, the work has a direct impact on the lives of the population. “This road here means everything to us. This asphalt will improve the lives of everyone living in the communities who need to travel for work, study, or sell their products,” she adds.

Conclusion - The first phase of the paving covered two lots in 2022, benefiting the first 20 kilometers of the highway, from the junction of PA-136 to Vila Fazendinha. In this second phase, the third lot will be delivered, with an additional 20 kilometers, from Vila Fazendinha to the junction with PA-395, totaling 100% of the highway paved. With the completion, PA-220 consolidates itself as an important axis of development and integration in northeastern Pará.
