The State Traffic Department (Detran) is completing the new horizontal and vertical signage of the PA-140, a highway that connects BR-316 to the municipalities of Vigia de Nazaré, Colares, Santo Antônio do Tauá, and São Caetano de Odivelas, in northeastern Pará. The work, which will be completed next week, is part of the strategic planning of the agency to ensure more safety on one of the state highways with the highest vehicle traffic, especially during the carnival period and extended holidays.

The preventive work on the highway is entering the completion phase

According to the Technical-Operational Director of Detran, Bento Gouveia, the interventions are essential to reduce accident rates and guide drivers, especially on the stretch between BR-316 and Santo Antônio do Tauá, which records one of the highest average daily volumes among state highways. “This revitalization aims to provide greater safety for those traveling in that area. We are installing reflective markers so that drivers can better navigate at night, as often the road markings disappear due to rain. Detran also decided to revitalize the vertical signage, due to the number of accidents recorded in the Santo Antônio do Tauá stretch, where we have already installed speed controllers and physical speed bumps,” informs the director.

Reflective markers improve visibility at night

National Campaign - The initiative also integrates the actions of Yellow May, a national campaign that reinforces the importance of accident prevention and the preservation of life in traffic. With the theme “Human Mobility, Human Responsibility,” Detran reinforces its commitment to road safety and driver awareness, especially on high-traffic roads like the PA-140.

The new signage will benefit not only the residents of the region but also drivers who use the highway as a route to other municipalities. With the completion of the works, Detran reaffirms its commitment to safety on the roads and the value of life in Pará traffic.
