The governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, met this Wednesday (7) in Brasília with the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, to present the plan for the expansion of the State's hospital network and strengthen the partnership with the federal government in the area of public health. The meeting was attended by the State Secretary of Public Health, Ivete Vaz, the Deputy Secretary Sipriano Ferraz, the President of the State Legislative Assembly, Francisco Melo "Chicão", and state deputies Torrinho Torres, Maria do Carmo, and Aveilton Souza.

During the meeting, the governor highlighted the advances already made in the sector and the investments that are transforming access to health in all regions of Pará.

"We presented our plan for the expansion of the hospital network, polyclinics, and high and medium complexity services. Pará has stood out as one of the states that is expanding its health facilities the most. More than 40 hospitals are being delivered, including units built in partnership with municipalities, regional and specialized hospitals, such as the Women's Hospital," said Helder Barbalho.

New deliveries by 2026

The governor also outlined the next steps of the State to ensure broader and more efficient care for the population. Strategic deliveries are planned by 2026, such as:

- Maternal-Child Hospital of Marabá
- Maternal-Child Hospital of Santarém
- Maternal-Child Hospital of Breves, in Marajó
- Ongoing works of the Maternal-Child Hospital of Altamira
- New polyclinics in Santarém, Breves, and Altamira
- Commitment to build the Regional Hospital of Parauapebas.

Helder emphasized that, in addition to physical works, it is essential to ensure the necessary resources to keep the services operational.

"These hospitals and polyclinics need funding so that the services reach the people. Therefore, the partnership with the federal government is essential for us to care for, protect, and save lives in all regions of Pará," he declared.

Recognition from the Ministry of Health

Minister Alexandre Padilha praised Pará's actions and recognized the State's leadership in strengthening the Unified Health System (SUS).

"It is an honor to receive Governor Helder and his team here at the Ministry. I can say that this is the largest expansion of the hospital network and specialized care in the history of Pará. President Lula has already been collaborating, and now we will expand this support, ensuring funding so that services reach those who need it most," the minister highlighted.
