The Government of Pará continues to improve urban infrastructure and promote quality of life for the population of Belém. On the morning of this Tuesday (6), the State's vice-governor, Hana Ghassan, delivered paved streets and announced new works in the neighborhoods of Pratinha and Benguí. The investments are part of the legacies of the COP30, the World Climate Conference, which will take place in the capital of Pará in November.

"I am very happy to make these deliveries of paved streets. We know how important it is for the asphalt to be in front of our homes. During the walk, I was able to talk to the residents, and I want to thank all the affection and trust received. We know there is much to be done, but we are making deliveries and starting work on other streets. The State Government, in this union with the City Hall, is with the population, day by day, looking into the eyes of each resident, working tirelessly for a more prosperous Belém and Pará," emphasized vice-governor Hana Ghassan.

The mayor of Belém, Igor Normando, spoke about the importance of the partnership between the federal, state, and municipal governments for the delivery of works and the announcement of new investments in the capital.

"We have walked through the streets of Belém before and after the State Government came in to change people's lives. There are improvements all over Belém. And no one does anything alone in life. The people of Belém have placed hope for better days in all of us. I learned from vice-governor Hana Ghassan that nothing beats hard work. We will continue transforming Belém, carrying this project forward to honor our population," said Igor Normando.

Pratinha – In the neighborhood, the State delivered Passagem Bom Sossego with new asphalt. The historic initiative of the Government of Pará was celebrated by housewife Zenilda Silva. “I have lived here for 20 years. It was very bad, access was difficult. There were many bridges, mud, and holes. The people, we from the community, suffered a lot. Now, with this work, I can only thank vice-governor Hana. It is a happiness. I have no words. It is gratitude. I like to go out looking nice, put on my little heels, and I am happy. I believe that each one of us, residents, are happy for this work, for this miracle,” thanked Zenilda.

Of the 26 streets that will receive asphalt in Pratinha, totaling more than 8 kilometers of works, 15 have already been fully paved: Rua Belchior, Rua Nova Aliança, Rua Humberto Mendes, Rua Profeta Samuel, Rua Samaritana, Alameda Isabel, Alameda Vitória, Passagem Duas Estrelas, continuation of Rua da Pratinha, Passagem Profeta Jeremias, Passagem Samaritana, Passagem Bom Sossego, Passagem Esmaelino, Passagem São José, and Travessa Cristóvão Colombo.

In addition, work will begin on another 11 streets, such as Passagem John Engelhard, where housekeeper Maria Corina lives. She talks about the challenges of living with mud and holes, a reality that is already starting to change with the services being carried out by the State Department of Public Works (Seop).

“There is a lot of mud, slime, and holes. The app car does not come here. When someone is sick, they have to leave on a motorcycle. It is difficult to survive in such a situation. I hope very much for this improvement, to see our street completely changed. We want asphalt, good things for us, because we also deserve it,” said Maria Corina.

Benguí – In total, 12 streets will undergo works in the neighborhood, of which 8 have already been fully paved: Passagem São Miguel, Rua Engenheiro José Machado, Passagem Santa Maria, Rua Olavo Nunes, Rua Provan, Passagem Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro, Rua Magalhães Barata, and Travessa Paraná.

Rua Magalhães Barata has already received asphalt paving services, drainage, earthworks, sidewalks, curbs, and signage. In total, the Benguí neighborhood will have more than four kilometers of asphalt services, which also includes work on Passagem Maciel.

The investment of the “Asphalt COP30” by the State Government, in partnership with the Federal Government, through Itaipu Binacional, is R$ 231,046,092.15. In total, 326 streets will benefit, distributed across more than 35 neighborhoods and districts of Belém, totaling 102.14 kilometers of works.

"The investment of the State Government in paving works in the neighborhoods and districts of Belém is a commitment of the administration of Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice-Governor Hana Ghassan. In addition to the asphalt works that were delivered today in Pratinha and Benguí, we continue with services on various fronts in these and other neighborhoods and districts of our capital, which will increasingly provide dignity, improvement in quality of life, and mobility to the population," emphasized the Secretary of Public Works, Ruy Cabral.
