Sedap and Sudam maintain partnership for sustainable development in the Amazon
The integrated initiative foresees the execution of 13 projects, with 10 in Marajó, taking into account the vocation of each region of the State. Representatives of the two institutions met this Tuesday (6) to align the execution of the actions

In a meeting held this Tuesday (9), representatives of the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap) and the Superintendency of Amazon Development (Sudam) discussed 13 joint projects of the institutions aimed at implementing sustainable development plans in the Amazon. Of these initiatives, 10 are directed towards the Marajó Archipelago.
The actions take into account, above all, the vocation of each region of Pará, as explained by the head of Sedap, Giovanni Queiroz, and the superintendent of Sudam, Paulo Rocha. Both were at the forefront of the meeting held at the Sedap office. The meeting included the participation of the technical team from both governmental institutions.
The projects, especially those in Marajó, as clarified by Secretary Giovanni Queiroz, take into consideration the aptitude of the archipelago and the local communities. The projects have already been submitted to the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).

“These projects meet a demand from Marajó to improve the quality of life of our people, increase productivity, and create an effective arrangement of society in search of better quality of life,” pointed out the manager.
The initiative foresees, among other actions, measures aimed at stimulating fish farming and qualifying producers. A partnership with the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) is being proposed, according to the manager, and the project is also in dialogue with the municipalities.
Partnership - The partnership between the two spheres of Government – Federal and State – as highlighted by Paulo Rocha, is not only important but also a government obligation to think about where the population is most in need of public policies. With the process already implemented, as he explained, it will now be up to the team of technicians to transform it into concrete projects in search of funding.
“Today we addressed Marajó, so we have the development project for there, where the role of both governments, both federal and state, is fundamental to provide answers to the challenges of this very important area of our State,” observed the manager.
