An operation carried out by troops from the 24th Battalion of the Military Police (24th BPM), part of the Capital Policing Command II (CPC II), seized a rifle, a high-caliber weapon, on the night of Monday (5), in the Bengui neighborhood of Belém.

The action occurred after anonymous reports informed about the presence of armed individuals in an abandoned property in the neighborhood. The suspects fled upon noticing the approach of the police, abandoning an AK model rifle, five magazines, and 7.62 mm ammunition.

The seized material was sent to the police station for legal procedures. “This seizure is the result of integrated work and the trust of the population, which has collaborated through anonymous reports. Removing such a weapon from the streets contributes to the prevention of crimes such as robbery, robbery with homicide, and murder, as well as reinforces the community's sense of security,” stated Colonel PM Getúlio Rocha, head of the General Operations Department (DGO).

The Military Police continues to act overtly in combating crime and emphasizes the importance of public participation through anonymous reports.
