Pará is already established among the most attractive tourist destinations in Brazil. This achievement is the result of strategic investments made by the state government in the areas of infrastructure, professional training, mobility, and the promotion of culture and gastronomy.

“The investments represent more than just works and events. They are structuring actions that consolidate tourism as a vector for sustainable and decentralized development,” highlights Eduardo Costa, Secretary of State for Tourism. He adds that, “from 2019 to 2024, more than 2,300 professionals were trained in 21 municipalities, exceeding the target set in the Multi-Year Plan.”

Courses on hospitality techniques, trail guiding, bird watching, and tourist service qualify the workforce and prepare the State to receive visitors with a standard of excellence.

Infrastructure - Another important front of investments is the modernization of tourist infrastructure, through 32 Cooperation Agreements signed between Setur (Secretary of State for Tourism) and municipalities, ensuring works on waterfronts, signage, and cultural centers. The delivery of the Sebastião Tapajós Convention Center in Santarém, in western Pará, and the regionalization of tourism in 14 regions strengthen the interiorization of public policies.

Many of these spaces are located by rivers, which leads the Government to also invest in the urbanization of these locations. Since 2019, 22 restructured and equipped waterfronts have been delivered, and 13 are under construction or being improved.

“Since 2019, the state government has been investing in delivering works that ensure the growth of the tourist and economic infrastructure of Pará municipalities. Many of these spaces are by our rivers, encouraging the practice of sports, leisure, and cultural activities, improving the quality of life of the population, in addition to generating more jobs and income,” highlights the Secretary of State for Public Works, Ruy Cabral.

In the area of mobility, investments by the Ports and Waterways Company (CPH) in the modernization of waterway terminals ensure comfort and safety for residents and tourists — especially in river tourism, which is strategic in Pará. In the last six years, the Government of Pará, through CPH, has delivered 28 waterway terminals in various regions of the State, and eight are under construction.

Calendar – The holding of major sports and cultural events reinforces Pará's tourist calendar. The Pará Olympic Stadium Journalist Edgar Proença, the New Mangueirão, and the Guilherme Paraense Arena, the Mangueirinho, under the management of the Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Seel), have already hosted more than 100 events since 2023.

The “Mangueirão Event Stage” project attracted thousands of people to activities with free admission, such as Pararraiá and the DJ Alok show, gathering more than 200,000 people. “We are positioning the State as a hub for sports and cultural tourism,” says the head of Seel, Cássio Andrade.

Cultural identity - The gastronomy of Pará, recognized for the authenticity of its ingredients, plays an essential role in the growth of the tourism sector. Restaurants offer experiences that combine flavor, culture, and identity. “Gastronomy is the main vehicle that attracts tourists. We proudly showcase the strength of our State's cuisine,” says chef Rafael Barros de Souza, owner of a restaurant in Belém.

With participation in international fairs, such as Fitur (International Tourism Fair) in Spain; ITB Berlin in Germany, and WTM Latin America in São Paulo (SP), Pará expands its visibility as a sustainable, diverse, and quality tourist destination, ready to welcome visitors from all continents.

Chef Rafael emphasizes that, more than numbers and works, tourism in Pará is made of experiences that awaken feelings of pride and belonging. “Our greatest purpose is to showcase the strength of Pará's cuisine and ensure that each visitor takes a piece of Pará in their heart,” concludes the culinary professional.
