Sespa meets with municipal coordinators of oral health and reinforces commitment to public dentistry in Pará
In addition to the event, Sespa and the Ministry of Health also conducted a technical visit for the implementation of a pilot project aimed at specialized dental care

The State Department of Public Health (Sespa), through the State Coordination of Oral Health, promoted the "State Meeting of Municipal Coordinators of Oral Health," held in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Collective Health (ABRASCO). The program, which reinforces the commitment to public dentistry in the State, took place at the José Vicente Miranda auditorium of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) on Wednesday (30).
The State Coordinator of Oral Health at Sespa, Alessandra Amaral, emphasizes that the initiative was much more than a technical event; it was a true turning point for public dentistry in Pará.

“With the honorable presence of Dr. Doralice Severo, General Coordinator of Oral Health at the Ministry of Health, and her technical team, as well as representatives from USP, Cosems, Sespa, CRO-PA, UFPA, managers, and health professionals from various municipalities, we experienced a moment of unity, inspiration, and collective building,” she emphasized.

The discussion and strengthening of public policies in the area of oral health among specialists and managers for the development of health at the national and regional levels were the pillars of the meeting.
“The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to a stronger, integrated, and transformative dentistry — one that places care for people at the center of public health policy,” highlighted Coordinator Alessandra.
COP 30
The main theme of the event was “Oral health and sustainability in the SUS: challenges and possibilities in research,” aligning with the intentions of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change - COP 30, which will be held this year in the capital of Pará.
During the meeting, important strategic agendas were discussed, such as the organization and decentralization of care networks for oral cancer and patients with special needs; the effective inclusion of oral health in COP 30 as an essential agenda for global health; and the fluoridation of supply waters, highlighted as a priority for the State, with full support from the Ministry of Health.
The state coordinator of oral health emotionally emphasized the importance of the moment and reinforced that Pará is consolidating itself as a national reference in oral health, being awarded innovative pilot projects that unite technology and commitment to equity, further strengthening the public health of our people.
“I congratulate and thank all the managers and health professionals who were part of this story. We are writing, together, a new chapter for oral health in Pará and Brazil. This event, held on the eve of Labor Day, with a full auditorium, represents our commitment to the people of Pará,” stressed Alessandra.
Advances - During the week, a technical visit was also conducted by the General Coordinator of Oral Health at the Ministry of Health and representatives from her coordination, organized by the state coordination of oral health, at the Center for Dental Specialties (CEMO), a unit selected to host a pilot project aimed at transforming the state of Pará into a national reference in technology focused on specialized dental care in prosthetics.
The initiative reaffirms the joint commitment between federal entities for the modernization of oral health services in the State, focusing on expanding access, improving care, and technological innovation.
“The visit of the CGSB to Pará represents a milestone for the oral health of our state. The choice of CEMO as a pilot unit reflects the recognition of our potential and the commitment to an increasingly technological, accessible, and humanized public dentistry. We are building a more dignified future for the people of Pará,” said Alessandra.
