State holds special program in honor of Young Workers' Day
The Government of Pará, committed to ensuring dignity for youth, maintains the 'First Job' Program and actions for professional training and access to the job market
The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment, and Income (Seaster), held a special program for young people who entered the job market through the 'First Job' Program and others who are registered in the system waiting for a position, this Wednesday (30), at the auditorium of the Superintendency for the Development of the Amazon (Sudam) in Belém.

About 150 young people from various neighborhoods in the Metropolitan Region of Belém attended a lecture on the theme "The challenges of sustainable development for youth," where they learned more about the challenges of the job market and how to face them without abandoning their professional goals.
The president of the Pará Supermarkets Association (Aspas), Jorge Portugal, said that "it is very gratifying to have these young people in our companies, especially because it is where they start to learn the professional side. But they continue their studies as well, and this, for us, is a very good workforce, because those who really seek to develop end up staying in the company. When they finish the Program ('First Job'), they are absorbed. Not entirely, but the vast majority. And today it is a very good workforce because they are at the beginning, and we are seeing several young people stand out. The supermarket sector has been taking great advantage of this factor in Pará, not only in the Metropolitan Region, especially since we have an agreement with the government that brings us young people from various areas, whether as stock clerks, human resources, and others. It is a very gratifying process."
The Government of Pará is increasingly investing in mechanisms that provide more dignity to youth through the generation of opportunities, through the 'First Job' Program, which prioritizes the professional growth of young people with qualifications and job creation.

Positive results - "The 'First Job' Program is essential for young people seeking entry into the job market, as it is a concrete tool for life change. The state government continues to invest in partnerships with companies throughout Pará. This program today was planned especially as part of our work, which prioritizes job and income generation for all. We are already achieving positive results, with many young people committed and transformed by the opportunities we provide through the Program," emphasized Miriquinho Batista, deputy secretary of Seaster.
"I was welcomed by a project from the Salesian School of Work that served young people. I came from the countryside, studied, and learned not only my profession but also a philosophy of life based on work and humanity. This fact made all the difference in my political and life trajectory, so I tell you to take advantage of this opportunity from the First Job Program," said the superintendent of Sudam, Paulo Rocha.
The event also featured the participation of the representative of the Learning Forum, Deyse Macóla; the Regional Superintendent of Labor, Paulo Gaia; and representatives from CIEE (Center for Integration of Company-School) and Sesi/Senai (Social Service of Industry/National Service of Industrial Learning).

Experiences - "I am 18 years old, I started working in a supermarket in the Marco neighborhood in Belém at the beginning of February this year. I work as a young apprentice, and I am learning to deal with the public, as I work as a stock clerk and learn a little bit of everything. This way, I see that I have chances to move to another position in the future, as I have a broad view of what happens there in that environment. Additionally, it has helped me a lot in my personal relationships, for my family environment, and financial assistance. It is something that has come for my growth. In the world we live in, we need this support because it is not so easy to get a first job," said Elaine Gabrielle.
"I have already registered, and I am hoping to be called soon. I really liked the opportunity to be here today, in addition to being able to better understand that we, young people, can make a difference in the job market with our dedication and focus," said Ayslana Tavares.
Growth - According to a survey by the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese/PA), based on data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged) from the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Pará registered a total of 12,363 young apprentices formally hired between January and November 2024. This is a growth of almost 14% compared to the same period in 2023, which gives Pará the status of the largest employer of apprentices in the North region and the 11th in Brazil.
