Managers of the Ophir Loyola Hospital visit Hospital de Amor, a national reference in oncology
The initiative allowed for the understanding of management models, innovation, and care practices, in order to strengthen oncological assistance in Pará
In an action aimed at qualifying public health services in Pará, managers from the Ophir Loyola Hospital and authorities participated in a technical visit to the Hospital de Amor, located in Barretos, in the interior of São Paulo (SP). Recognized as one of the main centers of excellence in oncological treatment in Latin America, the Hospital de Amor (HA) is a national reference in technology, humanization, and cancer research.

The main objective of the visit was to closely understand the care protocols, management models, and innovative practices adopted by the São Paulo institution. The "Ophir Loyola" team was welcomed by representatives of the Hospital de Amor's board and followed a program that included technical visits to imaging diagnosis centers, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, wards, and the oncological surgical center.

Innovation - The directors also visited the Institute of Education and Research (IEP) of the Hospital, which trains professionals and develops clinical studies in oncology, as well as the Innovation and Technology Sector, where they learned about projects integrating artificial intelligence and personalized medicine in the fight against cancer.
“The experience was extremely enriching. The Hospital de Amor is a model of how to provide excellent oncological care, focusing on high resolution. The idea is to bring these practices adapted to our regional reality in the future, always thinking about the quality of life and well-being of our patients,” highlighted the Clinical Director of the Ophir Loyola Hospital, Fábio Araújo.
According to him, maintaining contact with the experience and humanization practices of HA further qualifies the welcoming processes and patient-centered care at HOL. “Humanization is extremely important to us. So, understanding concretely how excellence in care goes beyond medical procedures is to value the human being at every stage, with empathy, respect, and dignity,” he emphasized.

Efficiency and Humanization - For the Administrative Director of HOL, Yan Serrão, the exchange of knowledge also broadens the view on the sustainability of a high-complexity public hospital. “The Hospital de Amor shows that it is possible to reconcile efficient management, fundraising, technological innovation, and humanized care. This reinforces the importance of institutional policies aimed at modernizing administrative processes and valuing health professionals,” he added.
The Ophir Loyola Hospital, based in Belém, is a state public institution and a reference in oncological treatment in the Northern Region. With over 100 years of operation, HOL serves thousands of patients annually and plays a fundamental role in the fight against cancer in the Amazon region, also being a reference in palliative care, education, and research.
The technical visit to the Hospital de Amor is part of a broader governmental plan that seeks to strengthen the high-complexity oncology assistance network in Pará.
