The Civil Police of Pará launched, on the morning of this Wednesday (30), the operation "Roko's Basilisk" aimed at arresting individuals with outstanding arrest warrants for intentional lethal violent crimes, such as homicides, femicides, rapes, and robberies.

The action was coordinated by the Police Intelligence Center (NIP) and involved several units of the Civil Police of Pará and the Judicial Police of other states.

"The operation is the result of intense investigative work and data cross-referencing using artificial intelligence to locate individuals considered highly dangerous and with a history of violence, reinforcing the commitment of the Civil Police of Pará to the safety of the population and assisting the public authorities in planning actions, preventing the prescription of the penalty. So far, nearly 40 people have been arrested, and efforts continue to locate other targets of the outstanding warrants," explained the deputy general delegate, Temmer Khayat.

In the Metropolitan Region of Belém, the operation was launched in conjunction with the Homicide Division (DH) of Belém and had operational support from the Organized Crime Suppression Division (DRCO), the Special Investigations and Operations Division (DIOE), the Theft and Robbery Suppression Division (DRFR), and the State Narcotics Division (DENARC).

In the interior, the operation was coordinated by the Intelligence and Investigation Support Centers (NAI), linked to the NIP, and by the Interior Police Directorate (DPI), which worked together with the Operations and Special Resources Coordination (CORE) in several municipalities.

The Cyber Operations Laboratory (Ciberlab/DIOPI), from Senasp/Ministry of Justice and Public Security, also provided support during the integrated mobilization with the Civil Police of the states of Amapá, Amazonas, Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Piauí, Bahia, Pará, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, and Tocantins.

"We had more than 400 civil police officers in the operations carried out in 72 municipalities. In total, we had over 100 arrest warrants to execute throughout Brazil. In the Metropolitan Region alone, there were 15 in Belém, Ananindeua, Marituba, Benevides, and Santa Isabel. 56 warrants in the interior of Pará and 47 in other cities across the country," said delegate Gabriel Batista, director of the NIP.

Roko's Basilisk - The name of the operation refers to a tale that suggests the existence of a future superintelligent artificial intelligence that can locate anyone. In the investigative field, it would be the ability of the Civil Police to locate and arrest highly dangerous criminals wherever they may be.
