Decentralizing health services, the Regional Public Hospital of Marajó (HRPM), in Breves, in the southwest of Marajó Island, represents an important advance for public health in the region. The unit offers various procedures and specialized care to the population, with a focus on the Hemodialysis service, essential in the treatment of chronic kidney patients. In just the first three months of 2025, the sector performed over 1,400 services, reinforcing the hospital's role as a reference in continuous and humanized care.

In the month that celebrates the "National Day for the Prevention and Combat of High Blood Pressure", the multiprofessional team of the Hemodialysis Outpatient Clinic of HRPM promoted an educational action aimed at chronic kidney patients and their companions. The activity took place this Tuesday (29) in the waiting room of the sector and aimed to raise awareness about the risks of high blood pressure, one of the main risk factors for the development and worsening of kidney diseases.

During the action, guidance was provided on healthy lifestyle habits, blood pressure control, balanced diet, physical activity practice, and proper adherence to medication treatment. The approach was led by Nutritionist Jéssica Galucio, with support from professionals from various fields, including nursing, nutrition, psychology, and social services, reinforcing the importance of comprehensive and multidisciplinary care in addressing hypertension.

Vinícius Vanzaler, psychologist in the Hemodialysis sector, explains that the initiative was especially directed at the companions of patients undergoing dialysis treatment, recognizing their fundamental role in daily support and promoting the quality of life of chronic kidney patients. "The active participation of family members in the educational process strengthens the bond with the healthcare team and enhances therapeutic outcomes, creating a more welcoming and collaborative environment," he pointed out.

He adds that the action reinforces HRPM's commitment to health education as an essential tool for preventing complications and encouraging self-care. "Activities like this are fundamental to improving patient prognosis and promoting greater adherence to treatment, significantly contributing to the reduction of hospitalizations and improving public health in the Marajó region," Vanzaler concluded.

Approval – One of the users reached by the action was Carliane Corrêa Ferreira, 30 years old, who accompanies her grandmother in dialysis treatment at the Regional Hospital of Marajó. The resident of Breves reports that the hospital's initiative was very important, as she was able to clarify several doubts related to her grandmother's diet. "The explanation was very good, they gave us recipes and instructed us well on the diet and how to prepare the food. The team gives me a lot of confidence, everyone is very participative," said the housewife.

Data – Between January and March of this year, the Regional Hospital of Marajó promoted exactly 1,431 hemodialysis sessions for its users.
