Everything is ready for the delivery, this Wednesday (30), of the overpass of BR-316 with Avenida Independência, in Ananindeua, Metropolitan Region of Belém. The equipment built by the Metropolitan Transport Management Center (NGTM) will be delivered to the population by Governor Helder Barbalho.
The overpass is 740 meters long, 14 meters wide, and 5.5 meters high from the roadway to the beams, and it promises to reduce traffic congestion in the region, ensuring greater fluidity and quality in the urban mobility of the population.
According to NGTM, the equipment will allow drivers traveling on Avenida Independência to access BR-316 directly towards the exit of the capital, without the need for a turnaround. Additionally, it will facilitate access from BR-316, from Marituba to Avenida Independência.
The painter Mateus Marques, 28 years old, believes that the new overpass will improve people's commutes. A resident of the municipality of Marituba, in Greater Belém, he uses his bicycle as a means of transportation to go to work in the Industrial District neighborhood in Ananindeua.
"It will be better for me to go to work, it will be faster, it will reduce traffic here in the area. It will be good for me and for other people. There are days when I come by bike, but there are days when I come by car, so I am very eager to have these improvements in traffic," noted the worker.
The supervising engineer responsible for the work, Emanuele Gaia, explains that the new overpass will reduce the constant traffic jams in the region. "We have very high expectations for the delivery of this equipment, which will improve the traffic flow for people and reduce waiting time in traffic. With this equipment, we finalize the delivery of the overpasses of BR-316," points out the engineer.
In total, more than 200 professionals worked on the project, generating jobs and income for workers in Ananindeua and Marituba. Overpasses are also being built at Mário Covas Avenue with Três Corações (79% completed) and Mário Covas Avenue with Avenida Independência (65% completed). Two other overpasses have already been delivered to the population, namely the one at Av. Ananin, delivered in 2023 at km 7 of the highway, and the overpass of BR-316 with the Viária Access, delivered in December 2024.
