With the second largest herd in the country with 26 million cattle and 782 thousand buffalo heads, in addition to being a national zone free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination, Pará stands out at the 30th edition of the International Agricultural Technology Fair in Action (Agrishow), in Ribeirão Preto (SP). On this Monday (28), Governor Helder Barbalho visited the event, which is the stage for the launch of the main trends and innovations for the sector.

Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted Pará's growth in the national agricultural scenario, emphasizing the balance between production and environmental preservation.

"Today, Pará consolidates itself as one of the most important states in food production in Brazil, facing the challenge of reconciling productive advancement with environmental preservation. We are intensifying production, whether in cattle farming — which already positions us as the second largest herd in the country — or in the growing strength of grain production. We lead the production of cocoa, açaí, pineapple, and palm oil, and we have also made significant advances in corn, soybeans, and rice, diversifying our crops. The state works with a clear strategy: produce while preserving and preserve while producing," he stated.

Regarding the opportunities that COP30 holds for Pará, the governor emphasized that the event will be important for attracting resources to help finance production and environmental conservation strategies.

"COP should be an extraordinary showcase for Brazil to show the world everything it has done positively and, at the same time, make a global call for the need for climate financing. Only then can we ensure the preservation of our forest stock and ensure that Brazil continues to be one of the protagonists in food production, further strengthening the power of Brazilian agribusiness," stated Helder Barbalho.

The president of Agrishow, João Carlos Marchesan, highlighted the importance of Pará's participation in the event and praised the actions of the Pará governor. "I greatly admire the governor. His presence at Agrishow is essential for us to replicate, in Pará, the agricultural development model we are seeing here in São Paulo, with all the technology aimed at agricultural machinery. Pará is a promising state and has all the conditions to become, in the future, the largest producer in Brazil," Marchesan stated.

Pioneering - Pará is a pioneer in individual animal traceability in the country, with the Sustainable Livestock program, the largest integrity and development initiative for livestock in Brazil. The program is a partnership between the public and private sectors and prioritizes high productivity, transparency, and socio-environmental responsibility in the production chain, aiming for the production of quality meat with animal health and free from deforestation.

The goal is to implement animal traceability to prove the origin of the animals, opening up marketing space for the meat produced in Pará to demanding international markets, such as Europe and China, in addition to strengthening consumer trust.

The program's goal is to trace 100% of the cattle herd moved in Pará by November 2025 and to have the entire cattle and buffalo herd traced by 2026. The program prioritizes productive intensification, pasture recovery, and technical support for producers.

Among the main results of the initiative are more than 3,200 traced animals, including cattle and buffalo, which are already included in the system, and more than 38,200 hectares of requalified land and 3,300 hectares isolated, through the Commercial Requalification program, a strategy that brings back to the meat market producers in the process of environmental recovery.

Productivity and environmental conservation - The state combines high productivity with reduced deforestation. Proof of this is that, while consolidating itself as the second largest herd in the country, it reduces deforestation to historic levels. In March 2025, Pará had the lowest deforested area since 2019, according to INPE's deforestation alert system. A reduction of 36% compared to March 2025 and March 2024.

Since 2019, Pará has been seeking to consolidate sustainable livestock farming, free from deforestation and with environmental and social responsibility. In recent years, it has created the Green Seal Platform, which monitors the entire production chain of livestock, including indirect suppliers and slaughterhouses, the Territorial Intelligence Module, which integrates different databases on land use, and has advanced like never before in land and environmental regularization. Currently, Pará accounts for 51.9% of live animal exports in Brazil.

The event was attended by state deputy and president of the Legislative Assembly of Pará (Alepa) Francisco Melo "Chicão", as well as state deputies Thiago Araújo and Torrinho Torres. Also present were the General Director of the State Agricultural Defense Agency, Jamir Macedo, and the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries, Giovanni Queiroz.
