On World Education Day, Pará celebrates achievements and advances in the education network
New schools and new daycare centers, historic growth in Ideb, among other results, highlight the progress in state public education

Pará has stood out with historic advances in the state public education network, and on World Education Day, this Monday (28), the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Education (Seduc), celebrates great results achieved through a committed management that sees the educational area as a priority agenda. These are programs, public policies, and actions that daily elevate the quality of education in state schools.
"We have made significant progress in Pará's education in recent years. We value our teachers with the highest average salary in Brazil and the second highest starting salary, investments in bonuses with the School that Transforms, we launched important programs for school management such as Money in the Pará School, in addition to resuming the supply of teaching materials. These and many other actions and achievements, such as the largest growth in the history of Ideb in Brazil, are proof that education is a priority in Pará and that we are, together, on the path to placing it where it should be: in the spotlight, as a reference," said Rossieli Soares, Secretary of State for Education of Pará.
Such investment has resulted in unquestionable and historic achievements, such as Pará's growth in the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb) 2023, moving from 26th to 6th place in the national ranking; the best performance in the North region in the writing section of the National High School Exam (Enem) 2024, with 295 scores above 950 points; or even the appreciation of teachers with the payment of the highest average salary in the country, amounting to R$ 11,447.48, 250% higher than the national average floor.
The best Basic Education Development Index (Ideb) scores were from the São Raimundo Nonato school in Santarém, which scored 7.0 in Elementary Education and 5.6 in High School in 2023; and from the Nossa Senhora das Graças State School in Belém, which achieved 7.6 in Elementary Education (initial years). Pará achieved an advance of 1.3 points in the Index between the 2021 and 2023 editions, consolidating historic growth in the history of Ideb.

To provide a safer and more suitable school environment for students, since 2019, the Government of Pará has delivered 167 new or rebuilt schools and seven daycare centers that have changed the educational reality throughout the Pará territory. These works benefit more than 500,000 students and about 30,000 employees.
In 2025 alone, in less than four months, the State has already delivered seven completely rebuilt schools in the municipalities of Bragança, Belém, Anapu, Cachoeira do Arari, and Brejo Grande do Araguaia; and two entirely new schools in Brasil Novo and Breu Branco, in addition to three more units of the Daycare Centers Program Throughout Pará, one in Redenção, one in Cumaru do Norte, and one in Almeirim. An investment of over R$ 60 million. The newest school unit delivered to the people of Pará was the first State Bilingual Full-Time School in Portuguese-Spanish in Pará, located in the Icoaraci District in Belém, inaugurated last Thursday (24). With full-time education, the unit follows a new pedagogical model in the state network and already benefits about 700 students from preschool to high school.
For 9th-grade student Adriane Dias, the Government of Pará's commitment to public education is essential for the present and will transform the future. "I feel honored to be in the first school with this level of education that is much higher; it is gratifying. This will help me a lot in my professional future, it will put me ahead in education," she shared.

Through the Daycare Centers Program Throughout Pará, Belém, Oriximiná, Ananindeua, Benevides, Redenção, Cumaru do Norte, and Almeirim have already received early childhood education units that allow the educational development of young children in a welcoming, safe, and quality structure. In addition to these, more than 90 units are currently under construction. The unprecedented initiative aims to benefit about 30,000 families, especially mothers in situations of social vulnerability. The daycare centers in the program have the capacity to serve 200 children aged 0 to 5 years.
With classrooms, nurseries, lactation rooms, and all the necessary infrastructure for early childhood education, such as covered recreational areas, playrooms, multipurpose rooms, auditoriums, and libraries, over R$ 400 million is being invested in the construction of 150 daycare centers throughout the State.
Bora Estudar - In addition to infrastructure and quality education, the school community continues to be valued through student recognition programs, such as Bora Estudar, which awards R$ 10,000 checks to students who scored 900 or higher in the Writing section of the National High School Exam (Enem) 2023 or had the best performance in the classroom. The State Government has already delivered 16,500 checks from the Bora Estudar program, an investment of R$165 million for the students.
Launched in September 2023, Bora Estudar is the largest school performance recognition program for students in the state network, and the check is delivered through the housing program "Sua Casa," which can be used to purchase construction materials for the renovation and expansion of students' homes, in a partnership between Seduc and the Housing Company (Cohab).

Full-Time Education Program (PEI) - The State has already implemented 162 schools with this model, exceeding the number of these institutions in the state public education network by more than five times. In 2018, full-time schools in Pará served 6,000 students; in 2025, there was a leap to 48,000 enrollments, an eightfold increase in service capacity. A result that reflects the State's commitment to providing more opportunities for students, with access to quality full-time education.
Salary Appreciation for Teachers - The State of Pará also pays the highest average salary in the country to teachers, amounting to R$ 11,447.48, according to data from the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), in addition to offering the second highest starting salary in Brazil, reaching R$ 8,289.87, plus R$ 1,500.00 in food vouchers, according to the Teaching Profession Movement.
Money in the Pará School Program (Prodep) - Created in 2023, the initiative strengthens the autonomy necessary for the proper functioning of school units since, through the program, schools can transform their realities based on their specific needs. Since its implementation, the program has already accumulated an investment of over R$137 million for improving the school environment of state schools throughout Pará.
Alfabetiza Pará - The program ensures that by the 2nd year of Elementary Education, all students can read and write at the right age. In 2024, Pará more than doubled the number of reading children. In less than six months, the State met the literacy goal for the year 2024, which was 37%, and exceeded it by reaching 48%. With this milestone, Pará ranked among the six states that most positively evolved literacy rates compared to 2019, the period before the Covid-19 pandemic. For this work, the program won gold in the "National Seal Commitment to Literacy" from the Ministry of Education (MEC).
School that Transforms - In reaffirmation of the policy of valuing education servers in the State, the program grants up to 3.5 salaries to Pará professionals who worked to achieve the goals proposed by Seduc in the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb). The measure benefits workers in positions such as cafeteria staff, security guards, teachers, education technicians, administrative and operational technicians, benefiting 100% of Seduc workers. The total investment of the program is R$ 373 million.
Bora Estudar Kit - In 2023, Pará became one of the first states in Brazil to guarantee internet access for 100% of state schools. With high-speed quality internet, the first phase of the "Bora Estudar Kit" program includes a Starlink antenna and ensures continuous maintenance and support for schools. In addition to the antennas, Seduc also guarantees constant maintenance and technical support in the 975 public schools. The equipment ensures a speed of 200MBs for the development of pedagogical activities and to support students and school teams.
Ciseb - The State also delivered the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb), a space dedicated to promoting innovative educational practices, with an emphasis on sustainability and digital citizenship. Ciseb has six immersion rooms, addressing the following learning paths: prototyping and digital manufacturing; maker culture; digital culture, virtual and augmented reality; robotics; creative computing and artificial intelligence.
Two units of the center are already operational: one at the Marechal Cordeiro de Farias State School and another at the Bilingual Full-Time State School in Portuguese-Spanish in Pará, located in the Icoaraci District.
Environmental Education - Since the first semester of 2024, Seduc offers the Environmental Education curricular component at all stages of education, mandatory in state schools. This component can be adopted by municipalities and is based on Seduc's Environmental Education, Sustainability, and Climate Policy.
Seduc emphasizes that the environmental content makes Pará a pioneer in guaranteeing a mandatory curricular component of sustainability, which encourages student engagement in discussions about fundamental agendas in the context of Pará, such as hosting the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30) in 2025.
New curricular matrix - Another strategy that contributed to the positive results of the state public network was the new curricular matrix proposed by Seduc in 2024, where the workload of the offered subjects was increased from 1,800 to 2,400 hours, ensuring more learning time for the 500,000 students in Pará. Curricular components such as Portuguese Language and Mathematics gained two more class periods, going from three to five periods. An additional class period was also added to the curricular components of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, and Geography. Uniquely in Brazil and worldwide, the Curricular Matrix even offers the component of Environmental Education, Sustainability, and Climate, mandatory for all stages of education.
