Partnership between Culture and TCE promotes training for communicators to combat structural racism
Summary
Cultura Rede de Comunicação hosted the first lecture on the “Fundamentals of Racial Literacy” in its community space, presented by two national references on the topic: Dr. Sandra Lurine and Dr. Zélia Amador de Deus.
The initiative was carried out in partnership with the State Court of Accounts (TCE), marking a step forward in the institutional commitment to promoting racial equity and training communicators committed to social justice.
According to the president of Cultura, Miro Sanova, TV, Radio, and Portal Cultura are very interested in promoting this debate. “Cultura is available to help foster, publicize, and showcase this work to society in the state and the country. We welcomed collaborators and communicators for this first lecture and became pioneers in this dialogue. We remain steadfast in building a fairer and more inclusive environment and in pursuing more actions like this,” he commented.
The lecture brought together journalists, presenters, producers, public managers, and educators for a moment of listening and learning. Among the participants was the presenter of the program Sem Censura Pará and Director of Community Communication and Citizenship, Vanessa Vasconcelos, who celebrated the importance of the event, explaining that this training is very necessary for communicators in a public and educational network. “I felt privileged to participate in this moment, in a partnership between Rede Cultura de Comunicação and the State Court of Accounts. It is our role to be aligned in this fight against racism, especially structural racism. As a black woman, I remember my early days at Cultura in the 90s when I was considered by many to be the first ‘little black girl’ on Pará television. I have dedicated 30 years to communication in the Amazon. I see this literacy as another necessary tool for our work, which carries a lot of social responsibility.”
