Next Monday, 28, Cine Líbero Luxardo will screen two free short films from Pará: “Querubim,” by Jean Louis Franco, and “Vicinal à Meia-Noite,” by Ícaro Matos. The session starts at 7:30 PM. There will be a discussion with the filmmakers after the screening.

“Querubim” is a 13-minute short film that mixes romance and drama, directed by Jean Louis Franco and inspired by the eponymous song by the Pará band Melhor Todos Juntos. Filmed in Parauapebas, the movie presents the unusual mission of a group of angels trying to mend the relationship of a couple in crisis. With a poetic approach, the short has no dialogues, evoking the language of silent cinema.

Following that, “Vicinal à Meia-Noite,” directed by Ícaro Matos, will be screened. This drama with supernatural elements is 17 minutes long and is set in the Palmares II community. The narrative follows Pedro, a character who encounters a ghostly figure of a young woman asking for a ride in the early hours, near the viaduct in the area. The story intertwines the fates of local residents with mysterious events around the train tracks of a mining industry.

The Janelas Project is an initiative of Cine Líbero Luxardo that aims to expand access to independent audiovisual production and create space for new filmmakers, promoting the meeting between the audience and Pará filmmakers.
