In an event marked by the sharing of experiences focused on humanization, the Metropolitan Hospital of Urgency and Emergency (HMUE) received representatives from the State Health Department of Pará (Sespa) and professionals from other hospitals in the metropolitan region of Belém.

Various projects developed at the unit, aimed at the well-being of patients, companions, and staff, were presented at the meeting held on Thursday, the 24th.

“This is a very important moment for the hospital, its users, and staff as well. We must practice humanization in our daily lives, with small and large actions. We know this mission, we recognize it, and that is why we take it very seriously here at the Metropolitan,” says the physician and technical director of the unit, Augusto César Passanezi.

Among the highlighted actions is the implementation of the Mental Health Project “Caring for Those Who Care,” in compliance with the update of Regulatory Norm 01, which imposes on companies the obligation to identify and manage psychosocial risks in the workplace. With this initiative, a pioneer in the region, all HMUE staff can start psychological therapies for free in the workplace.

Approval – From Vila Canopus, in the rural area of Altamira, in the Xingu region, Geneci Moreira has been accompanying her son in treatment at the Metropolitan for over 40 days.

In addition to expressing gratitude for the humanized care received, she points out that her son's life would be different without the prompt assistance from the multidisciplinary team at the hospital.

Technical director of HMUE talks about the importance of humanization projects

“I thank God first and then the hospital team for these more than 40 days after my son's accident. If it weren't for this team, my son would definitely not be in the condition he is in now. They were very caring and attentive, and I will be eternally grateful.”

Structure – A reference in the treatment of medium and high complexity, in trauma and burns, through the Unified Health System (SUS), HMUE has operational beds in the specialties of traumatology, general surgery, neurosurgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, plastic surgery (exclusive for burn victims), and ICU beds.

In 2024 alone, more than 600,000 services, including hospitalizations, surgeries, laboratory and imaging exams, multidisciplinary care, and outpatient consultations, were offered to patients from the Metropolitan Region and different municipalities in Pará.
