Civil Police of Pará closes clandestine slaughterhouse and fines two people
The operation took place in the Outeiro district in conjunction with Adepará, Sanitary Surveillance, and the State Scientific Police

The Civil Police of Pará launched the "Weak Meat" operation to investigate reports regarding the existence of a clandestine slaughterhouse for pigs, as well as to investigate possible environmental crimes, public health violations, and consumer relations offenses.
The action, which took place on the morning of this Thursday (24), was coordinated by the Animal Protection Department (Depa), linked to the Specialized Division for Environment and Animal Protection (Demapa), and had the partnership of the Agriculture Department of the State of Pará (Adepará), Sanitary Surveillance, and the State Scientific Police (PCEPA).

“During the operation, we confirmed the existence of an irregular breeding and slaughterhouse for pigs, which operates without the necessary sanitary and environmental licenses. We also verified several irregularities and identified two men as responsible for the location. They were fined and will answer for animal mistreatment, environmental pollution, and crimes against consumer relations,” explained delegate Leandro Lima, head of Depa.
The pigs were kept in poor hygiene and management conditions. At the site, irregular disposal of organic waste was also found, which causes soil pollution and risk of contamination of water resources, and the absence of provenance of the animals, such as the lack of records from sanitary authorities, which puts consumers at risk due to the possible sale of unregulated meat.

“In addition to the environmental expertise, the site was closed by the competent authorities and the owners are prohibited from continuing illegal activities. The men were taken to the specialized police station for appropriate measures,” concluded delegate Leandro Lima.
