Mangueirão turns sky blue in tribute to Paysandu's pentachampionship in the Copa Verde

Paysandu won the competition in the years 2016, 2018, 2022, 2024, and 2025

The Olympic Stadium of Pará — Journalist Edgar Proença, Mangueirão, turned sky blue in tribute to Paysandu Sport Club for winning the pentachampionship of the Copa Verde on the night of this Wednesday (24). The Papão defeated Goiás in penalties (5 to 4) at the Serra Dourada stadium in Goiânia. In regular time, the score was 1 to 1.

The secretary of Seel, Cássio Andrade, highlighted the achievement of the Pará club. “A historic moment for Pará football, a victory that represents the strength of the clubs from the North of the country in major competitions. This pentachampionship of Paysandu fills us with joy and emotion. The Mangueirão in sky blue is to honor the club and the fans with the conquest of the Copa Verde,” he said.

Paysandu became the greatest champion of the Regional Championship of clubs from the North and Midwest of Brazil. The team was champion in the years: 2016, 2018, 2022, 2024, and 2025. In addition to the pentachampionship, the team secured a direct spot for the third phase of the Copa do Brasil in 2026. Goiás will need to confirm its spot in the next Copa do Brasil via Series B.

The second greatest regional champion is Cuiabá, with two titles, while Goiás, Remo, Brasiliense, Luverdense, and Brasília each have one trophy.

The Copa Verde has been held since 2014 and currently grants a spot for the third phase of the Copa do Brasil the year following the champion.
